John
Bardwell
After
several decades in the ad business, John Bardwell decided to take
up pencil and brush in a more valiant way, the world of painting.
He tried many styles, from classic realism to impressionism to
portraiture. They all sold quite well for several years. “When
you’re well trained and versatile and used to doing what the market
wants, you become a kind of chameleon. Do a Van Gogh? Sure. A
Monet? Pretty well. That not only gets boring, it’s not very honest.
So one evening while enjoying one of my favorite pleasures, a
nice glass of wine or two, I simply said, to no one in particular,
‘I’ve made a living for a long time with humor. Most people like
to laugh. Art can be fun, can’t it?”
